48 Mile Hard Rock, 1.5 miles into race: Soon after riders turn off Buffalo Road onto the Tracey Mine property they will turn left off the gravel driveway onto a grass 2-track 100 yards earlier than the normal course. The grass has been mowed, the path grub hoed. BUT it is still a bit "rough". Please scope it out Saturday morning during your warmup. Things may bottleneck here but it's the best we can provide under the circumstances.
COURSE UPDATE for the 28 Mile Soft Rock Starting Line: Due to road construction on Croix St in Negaunee we've had to adjust the first mile of the roll out. Riders will leave from in front of Lakeview School (per usual) then turn left on Opeechee then right on Muskoday where it will rejoin the normal course on Baldwin/North Rd.

Last minute logistics are underway for the Upper Peninsula Health System 2015 Ore to Shore Mountain Bike Epic to be held on Saturday, August 8th. Last year’s race was a huge success, thanks in part to all of the volunteers who so generously gave their time and talents to a wonderful community event. One sentiment that has been consistent throughout the race’s history is the volunteer support we receive. From day one, our bikers have been thrilled with the volunteers throughout the course, the spirit and excitement that they’ve shown, and the commitments they’ve seen come from this community.
Help us to continue this tradition of outstanding community involvement. Volunteers are needed for every aspect of the race, from registration the night before to the awards ceremony immediately following.
· Friday Night Registration from 6-9 pm at Lakeview Arena
· Saturday Finish Line (t-shirts sales and race results) at Lakeview Arena from 8-11 am, 11-2 pm, and 2-6 pm.
· Saturday Junior Rock staging from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm and Junior Rock course marshals from 3:30 pm-5 pm.
Online volunteer registration is available at Volunteer Spot. Just need an email to sign up and share your time and talent with the community.
More traditional ways are to please contact the Ore to Shore at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 906.869.4054 to express your interest. Someone from the race committee will be in touch to assign and confirm volunteer responsibilities.
Encourage friends, family and neighbors to volunteer and make this year’s Ore to Shore Mountain Bike Epic a total community experience!
